FAQ

General Questions

Can I inspect cattle?

Yes - We welcome all potential buyers to conduct a site inspection. Visits are by appointment only. Please contact Zele Angus to arrange a site visit.

Please see our Site Visit section below.

How many cows can a bull service?

The number of cows a bull can service typically depends on the bull's age, health, and experience. Here are some general guidelines:

Yearling Bulls (12-18 months old):

A young bull can usually service around 15-18 cows. It's recommended to limit the number to ensure the bull doesn't become overworked and can effectively cover the cows.

Mature Bulls (2-5 years old):

A mature, healthy bull can service around 20-30 cows, though some bulls may be able to handle more this depends on experience and vigour.

Can you hold cattle temporarily for me?

We can only hold cattle once the animal is paid for in full. Typically, cattle purchases must be collected within 7 days of finalizing the purchase. However, in certain cases, we may be able to extend this collection period, but this must be discussed and agreed upon before the sale.

Sales Process

This sales process applies exclusively to online and direct sales. A different procedure is followed for animals sold in live auctions. The Auction Sales process will be detailed in our Bull Sales Auction Catalogs.

Our Gaurantee

Every bull sold is guaranteed to be a breeder at the time of sale and remains guaranteed fertile for 12 months thereafter. If a bull is found to be infertile or unable to naturally serve cows (excluding issues caused by injury or disease after the sale), the purchase price, minus salvage value, will be refunded. Alternatively, if a suitable replacement is available, compensation can be arranged in this manner. Please note that we do not issue credits for use at future sales.

1. Arrange Site Inspection

We strongly encourage arranging a site visit to inspect the animal you are interested in purchasing.

Inspections are by appointment only; please contact Zele Angus to schedule a viewing, and they will have the animal yarded in advance of your visit.

2. Making Payment

Customers wishing to proceed with a purchase will be provided with a Buyers Form, containing all the necessary information to facilitate the transfer of the animal into your name.

If you are purchasing directly through Zele Angus, we will issue a formal invoice for payment. You can also make an online payment, using any points or rewards programs you may have.

If you are purchasing through an agent, your agent will discuss payment options with you, and we will coordinate directly with your agent.

3. Physical Examination & Semen Testing

Whilst it is very unlikely that our bulls are infertile, we prefer to be sure before delivering them to their new home. For this reason a physical examination and semen testing is conducted post-purchase.

Bulls are vet-checked by West Gippsland Veterinary Services, including a thorough examination of the penis, palpation of reproductive organs, and a visual inspection of structure and locomotion. Additionally, a crush-side test for semen motility is conducted at the same time with results provided to the buyer.

In the event the bull fails a semen test, the buyer may:

  1. Withdraw from the sale altogether or;
  2. Retain the option to purchase the bull pending a satisfactory result at an agreed future date or;
  3. Elect to take a satisfactory replacement.

We strongly recommend insuring your cattle before shipment, as Zele Angus absolves any responsibility once the cattle leave our property. Please note that no additional warranties are provided if shipment is arranged through our preferred freight forwarder.
